On 28 May 2025, we announced the immediate closure of the play park at Porthcressa on St Mary’s following a safety inspection. The inspection identified some necessary repair works which are scheduled for the week commencing 18 August 2025. Please continue to abide by the safety signage and do not enter the site until we have confirmed that the work has been completed and the park has reopened.
In an effort to achieve value for money, we have also instructed the contractors, South West Play Ltd, to undertake some preventative improvement work at the play park located in the grounds of the Community Centre on Bryher. In preparation for this work, the swing has been removed from the site, pending the arrival of a replacement. Repairs will commence on 18 August 2025 and should be complete within a couple of days.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our residents and visitors, but hope that everyone will understand why we are prioritising safety and trying to reduce costs by asking South West Play to repair equipment on both sites within the same visit to the islands.
