UPDATE TO ROAD CLOSURE FOR CULTURAL CENTRE AND MUSEUM DEVELOPMENT: second phase beginning 14 October 2024

The second phase of the road closures for the development of the new cultural centre and museum will begin the week commencing Monday 14 October 2024.

For a maximum of 4 weeks, a single lane restriction will be put in place on Church Road to enable scaffolding to be erected in front of the Town Hall building. As soon as a site boundary and pedestrian pathway has been constructed, the road will be fully re-opened and pedestrians will be able to walk on the pavement under the scaffolding.

We originally announced the approval of the road closure application back in August, when the first phase of closures was needed to establish the site compound in the area at the back of the Town Hall building. The area at the back of the development will remain closed to vehicles until 30 June 2026. You can view the plans for both phases of the road closure application (reference HWA-24-01) via the highway closure applications page of our website.

We ask that anyone planning to be in the areas affected by the closure pays close attention to the signage. If you have any queries in relation to the work, please contact the construction team Project Manager via email at IOSProject@stepnell.co.uk.

You can read our previous update on the project on our website. If you have any other questions about the project, or would like further information, please email IOSproject@scilly.gov.uk

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
