The period has now closed for companies to come forward to participate in a soft market test relating to the Council’s Sea Links Levelling Up Fund project.
This process is important for the Council to continue to make the case to the Department for Transport of the need for Levelling Up funding to be retained for the islands, should the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s plans to privately fund new vessels not proceed.
A report on the project is due to be taken to the meeting of Full Council on 16 November 2023.
The Council is using every opportunity to ensure that government continues to recognise and support the islands’ lifeline transport services and to recognise the issues of affordability.
