Environment Agency issues flood warning. High tides, strong winds and large waves may lead to localised flooding over the high tide on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
We have been issued with a flood warning from the Environment Agency that reads:
High tides, strong West to South Westerly winds and large waves may lead to localised flooding over the high tide on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Harbour walls and communities exposed to the prevailing conditions may experience wave overtopping. For Friday afternoons high tide the tide height expected is 6.02m (local datum) including a forecast surge of 0.1m. Wind is forecast to be a Force 6 Westerly with a wave height of 5m. The time of high water at St Marys is 16:45 GMT. For Saturday mornings high tide the tide height expected is 6.12m (local datum) including a forecast surge of 0.13m. Wind is forecast to be a Force 7 South South Westerly with a wave height of 5m. These conditions are of particular importance to frontages exposed this wind direction where flooding is possible. The time of high water at St Marys is 05:15 GMT.
