Windy conditions are expected at times on Sunday, and the Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning of Wind for the Isles of Scilly, most of Cornwall and parts of south and west Devon. The warning is valid from 0500 until 1200 and highlights a Medium Likelihood of Low Impacts.
South-easterly winds are expected to gust to around 50-60 mph. The strong winds will accompanied by a band of rain, which may be heavy and persistent at times. We are also in a period of spring tides, so there is the potential for some localised overtopping of coastal defences by spray or waves on south facing coasts, especially around the time of High Water.
Sunday will also be a wet day for many areas, with around 20-40 mm of rain falling through the day in some areas. The Council have made the decision to put sand bags at Old Town during this period.
The situation will continue to be monitored through the weekend and the warning updated as necessary. As always, the latest version can be found on both Hazard Manager and the Met Office Website.
