Find out if your project is eligible for Community Levelling Up funding

Is your project eligible for Community Levelling Up Funding?

Funding totalling £1.885 million is now available for projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Applications for this Community Levelling Up fund are open from 13 December 2022 until midnight 31 January 2023.

The fund is administered by Cornwall Council and is sourced from the £132 million of investment allocated to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly through the Shared Prosperity Fund. The ‘Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Investment Plan’ sets out how the £132 million Shared Prosperity Fund will be spent. The three-year investment plan prioritises support for local businesses and communities as well as boosts to residents’ job skills.

Potential applicants can include community organisations, community interest companies, businesses, faith groups and unitary, town or parish councils seeking investment of £5,000 to £200,000 for:

  • Refurbishing, re-purposing, renovating and creating new buildings on high streets and neighbourhood shopping areas to help deliver increased footfall, increased economic activity and pride in place.
  • Funding for new, or improvements to existing, community and neighbourhood infrastructure, projects that deliver improved public spaces and economic regeneration.
  • Activity designed to support community engagement and involvement in decision making about local regeneration.

Applications will be prioritised if they demonstrate sustainable and low carbon approaches to community regeneration and set out how people and skills opportunities can be included as part of wider project delivery. All activity must demonstrate how it will complement and not duplicate mainstream and other funded activity.

Councillor Steve Sims, Lead Member for Economy, Tourism & Transport, said: “the funding criteria for Community Levelling Up fund are intended to be open to a wide range of ideas and make it easy for small organisations to apply. Anyone with a project which fell outside of the voucher scheme criteria, should have another go because a far broader and more island-applicable range of projects are acceptable in this scheme. Even if you’re not sure whether you are eligible, I strongly encourage anyone with a project to at least get in touch with the Community Levelling Up team for further information.”
