The Council of the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall Community Land Trust (CCLT) have been working to progress the site known as ‘Ennor Farm,’ for the delivery of serviced self or custom build plots.
These plots will be owned and developed by households who wish to pursue the self or custom build route to home ownership following successful allocation. In order to ensure that the 12 plots are allocated to households in a fair way, the Council developed an Allocations Policy which was approved at a meeting of Full Council in May 2022.
We’re now in a position to invite applications for self and custom build plots. The Council will determine which households are eligible for this scheme and how they must be prioritised according to the points-based criteria within the Allocations Policy. Cornwall Community Land Trust will then determine which plot is allocated to each household.
Councillor Tim Dean, Lead Member for Housing and Corporate Estate, said: “I’m delighted that we are now in a position to invite people to apply for the plots at the Ennor Farm self and custom build housing site on St Mary’s. Ensuring a fair and transparent process for the allocation of these plots is particularly important given the significance of housing on Scilly and the issues we are all experiencing in relation to the wider housing crisis. The allocation of these plots is about more than fulfilling the Council’s aim to address housing scarcity on the islands; it’s about helping those with dreams of building their own homes to achieve this ambition, whilst creating the churn in our housing market that will, in turn, improve the lives of those not in a position to own their own homes.”

We urge applicants to take their time to read the guidance documents available at the link above before filling out their application, and to ensure all relevant information is provided as part of their submission. A checklist is included within the application pack.
