St Mary’s Councillor resignation and Notice of Casual Vacancy

Cllr Anita Bedford has resigned from her position as a Councillor for St Mary’s. As a result of Cllr Bedford’s resignation, a formal Notice of a Casual Vacancy has been published on our website, in line the Local Government Act 1972.

No by-election can be held as a result of this resignation, as the vacancy has occurred within six months of the date on which Cllr Bedford would have ordinarily retired following the local elections scheduled for 1 May 2025.

Cllr Robert Francis, Chairman of Council, said: “I would like to thank Cllr Bedford for all her hard work and diligence in carrying out her role and representing the community. I feel I should also reassure St Mary’s residents that, as Councillors for St Mary’s have no specific wards, the St Mary’s community will continue to be represented by the 11 remaining St Mary’s Councillors.”
