Due to Andy Fraser’s having not attended a formal meeting of the Council or any of its committees for a continuous period of six months, his membership of the Council of the Isles of Scilly came to an end on 30 January 2025.
A formal Notice of Casual Vacancy has been published on our website in line with the Local Government Act 1972.
No by-election will be held as the vacancy has occurred within six months of the date on which Cllr Fraser would have ordinarily retired following the local elections scheduled for 1 May 2025.
While the Bryher seat remains vacant, residents of Bryher are advised to raise Council matters with any of the remaining 14 Councillors elected to represent Tresco, St Agnes, St Martin’s or St Mary’s.
Cllr Robert Francis, Chairman of Council, said: “I would like to thank Cllr Fraser for all his hard work and diligence in carrying out his role and representing the community. I would also like to reassure the Bryher community that they are welcome to contact me or any of my fellow Councillors with their queries or concerns and we will do our very best to assist."
