The Council's Climate Change Action Plan sets out 10 key objectives detailing what the Council can do to reduce its own emissions, what it can do to influence others and how we will work collaboratively with our local partners and national stakeholders as we move towards net zero.
The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Area Energy Plan (CIoS LAEP) sets out the best route for the islands to achieve net-zero - a future energy system that will be cleaner, more affordable and resilient.
The CIoS LAEP has been developed with support from external consultants, City Science with independent quality assurance and evaluation via Exeter University.
The CIoS LAEP has been led by Cornwall Council with support from the Council of the Isles of Scilly and engagement with local stakeholders, and the community, to develop the Isles of Scilly sections and associated actions. The LAEP was developed through funding recieved by Cornwall Council from the South West Net Zero Hub.
The CIoS LAEP is intended to be used as a an evidence base for informing future climate policies and is not intended to be adopted as policy of the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
Regionally, the CIoS LAEP will also be used to help inform future investment that unlocks economic growth for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
The Full CIoS LAEP can be viewed at Let's Talk Pages of the Cornwall Council website. Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Area Energy Plan | Let's Talk Cornwall.
A separate Isles of Scilly Summary Report has been developed, which can be found below. This contains specific reference and recommended actions for the Isles of Scilly, taking our unique circumstances into account.
Delivery of LAEP will not be achieved by Council action alone. Whilst the Council will continue to contribute and support the islands on a pathway to net zero, delivery of the LAEP and net zero energy system requires leadership across multiple sectors.
