Adult Social Worker

You’ll play a vital role in promoting wellbeing, safeguarding adults from harm, and ensuring smooth care pathways that make a real difference in people’s lives.

What you’ll be doing?

Leading complex casework with adults who have a variety of needs, including dementia, autism, and long-term conditions.

  • Conducting timely care, financial, and mental health assessments that comply with current legislation and best practice.
  • Working closely with Park House, our care home, and the wide Adult Social Care team.
  • Promoting personalisation in care planning to deliver tailored, meaningful outcomes.
  • Acting as a critical part of a multi-disciplinary team and contributing to local forums, safeguarding partnerships, and strategy meetings.
  • Providing advice, support, and leadership to colleagues to uphold high practice standards across Adult Social Care.a
  • Championing the implementation of the Care Act and other key frameworks including the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

What you’ll need

  • A recognised qualification in Social Work and current HCPC (or equivalent) registration.
  • Extensive experience in adult social care, including safeguarding and multi-agency work.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and practice, particularly the Care Act, MCA, and DoLS.
  • Confidence in critical reflection, risk assessment, and decision-making in complex cases.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and work collaboratively with clients, carers, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Competency in report writing, data management, and use of IT systems.
  • Understanding of local health landscapes and the unique challenges of rural or island settings.

This role is also eligible for standby hours and may involve lone working and inter-island travel.
