Course description:

Would you like to make some Christmas gifts in felt? Whether you are a beginner or more experienced this workshop will allow you to explore your creative side using the ancient craft of Felt making. You will learn the techniques of wet felting and needle felting to create a truly handmade Christmas gift. You can spend the day making smaller gifts such as felting around soaps, making beads, Christmas decorations and much more.   Alternatively you could embark on a more ambitious project, for example a small bag, picture, tea cosy or felted pot.  For those attending the 1/2 day workshop time will be limited to what can be achieved.  Returning students attending the 1/2 day workshops with previous knowledge of the processes involved will be able to move straight onto their own project.  In this case you will be able to achieve making a small bag/felt bowl for example.  New students will be shown how to felt around soap to demonstrate the objectives outlined below then move onto making smaller items such as beads, Christmas decorations, small wall hangings for example.   Felt making is extremely versatile and fun whatever your previous experience.

Learning Objectives:

Learn the technique of felting using a resist to create a seamless 3D piece.

For new students  all the above will be demonstrated by felting around a soap.
