Course description: 

Silk painting is the art of applying special dyes to silk. Anyone can create a beautiful wearable silk scarf whatever their artistic ability. The tutor will explain the processes and techniques required to make some really stunning and lasting designs.

In this course you will have the opportunity to design and paint one or two scarves.

 

Learning Objectives: 

Learn the technique of applying silk dyes.

Learn the art of combining colours successfully.

Choose colours and develop a design

Paint a background on a long scarf

Learn techniques to apply painted lines and shapes

One white long (45x180cm) silk scarf will be provided with the dyes and paint brushes.
Equipment to bring: 
There are no specific requirements for the course. Please bring an apron or an old shirt in case of splashes (although dye is not colourfast until ironed).
Lunch/refreshments: 
Tea or coffee will be available.
Assessment: 
Progression will be measured by your increased confidence and skill during the session. Assessment will be how pleased you are with your finished scarf.
