Notice of Election published for the UK Parliamentary general election on Thursday 4 July 2024

The formal process of electing an MP for the St Ives constituency as part of the UK Parliamentary general election began today (Tuesday 4 June 2024) with the publication of the Notice of Election.

Polling day will be on Thursday 4 July 2024.

To be able to vote in this election:

  • you need to be registered to vote.
  • if you intend to vote at the polling station, you need to show photo ID to the polling station staff before you can be given your ballot paper. This is a new requirement that was introduced by the Elections Act 2022.

In order to take effect for this election:

  • applications to register to vote must be received before 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024.
  • applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024.
  • applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024 (unless you are changing from a postal vote to a proxy vote in which case the application must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024).
  • applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (a free photo ID document for those who do not already have an acceptable form of photo ID) must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
