Reminder: St Martin's voters must bring photo ID to vote - and there's no voting on the other islands

Please remember you can only cast a vote at the local election on Thursday 1 May if you are a St Martin’s voter. This is because the elections on St Mary’s, St Agnes, Bryher and Tresco were all uncontested.

Remember your photo ID to vote on St Martin’s

Voters on St Martin’s are urged to remember their photo ID when they go to vote in the polling station on Thursday 1 May.

All those voting in a polling station will need to show photo ID to the polling station staff in order to be issued with a ballot paper.

Common forms of accepted photo ID include:

  • a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport (including an Irish Passport Card)
  • a UK or EEA photocard driving licence
  • an Older Person’s Bus Pass
  • a Blue Badge
  • a Proof of Age card bearing a PASS hologram

A full list of the accepted forms of photo ID is available on the Electoral Commission website.

Out-of-date documents can be used if the photograph is still a good likeness of you.

If voters lose their photo ID (after 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025), they can appoint an emergency proxy to vote on their behalf up until 5pm on election day. The person appointed as proxy must have their own acceptable photo ID.

Further information about the photo ID requirement may be found on our 'Frequently Asked Questions: voting in a polling station' webpage.

If you have any questions, please contact the Elections Office on 01720 424545 or at elections@scilly.gov.uk.
