The Council’s new waste and recycling containers are being rolled out to our customers from this week, in preparation for the start of our new waste and recycling services on Monday 31 March 2025.
Please note that the new containers cannot be used until Monday 31 March 2025. No waste or recycling presented for collection, or taken to any Council-managed waste site, in the new containers will be accepted before this date.
All new containers will be accompanied by information leaflets and/or letters tailored to the service you will receive and the island you live on. Arrangements for the receipt of the new containers will vary from island to island. These variations are explained below:
St Mary’s
We will deliver new containers and accompanying service information, including changes to collection days, to all households, as well as to every business signed up to our new commercial waste service.
St Martin’s and Bryher
Our waste management contractors on St Martin's and Bryher will deliver new containers and accompanying service information to all households and commercial waste service customers.
St Agnes
All householders and commercial waste service customers will be able to collect their new containers from the St Agnes Waste Site from 2pm on Friday 21 March 2025. We will display posters on the island and work with contractors to get this message to anyone unlikely to see it online.
Tresco
Waste and recycling services on Tresco are managed by Tresco Estate and remain unaffected by the changes to Council waste and recycling services.
