In April 2024 members of the Full Council approved Public Consultation on an update to the Enforcement Charter. This guidance on planning enforcement issues was approved and adopted in 2019. Since then the Council declared a Housing Crisis in January 2022. As part of the Council's response to the Housing Crisis the Local Planning Authority were asked to investigate a number of planning enforcement issues where these had the potential to address the housing crisis. To this end, external Enforcement Consultants, Ivy Legal, were commissioned to investigate and advise on these enforcement cases. Whilst a number of these cases remain open one of the outcomes to the work of Ivy Legal was a review and update to the Enforcement Charter from 2019.
The Council will be looking to consult on this updated work, which will be adopted as the Isles of Scilly Enforcement Plan.
Following the General Election in July 2024 officers will be looking to undertake a public consultation exercise on this new Enforcement Plan. All of the consultation documents will be uploaded to this page shortly.
