A local government election for the Council of the Isles of Scilly is taking place on Thursday 1 May 2025.

Notice of Election
To be able to vote in this election:
• you need to be registered to vote.
• if you intend to vote at the polling station, you need to show photo ID to the polling station staff before you can be given your ballot paper. This requirement was introduced by the Elections Act 2022.
You can find out more about registering to vote and the photo ID requirement in sections 2 and 3 of the FAQs.
In order to take effect for this election:
• applications to register to vote must be received before 12 midnight on Friday 11 April 2025.
• applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.
• applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025 (unless you are changing from a postal vote to a proxy vote in which case the application must be received by 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025).
• applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (a free photo ID document for those who do not already have an acceptable form of photo ID) must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
If you would like to stand as a candidate in this election, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is 4pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025.
