Consultation on Main Modifications to the Isles of Scilly Local Plan, post-examination.

Following the examination hearings, which took place between 21st and 23rd January 2020, the Inspector wrote to the Council to advise that modifications to the submitted Isles of Scilly Local Plan (2015 - 2030) are necessary to make the plan sound.

In response to the Inspectors suggested modifications to the plan, the Council has prepared a schedule of main modifications to the plan, which has been published for public consultation. In addition the Council have made additional modifications to the plan, these include corrections and changes that provide clarity.  In addition there are Policy Map Modifications to reflect the main and additional modifications.

Planning Inspectors Assessment of proposed Main Mofifications to the Isles of Scilly Local Plan 2015 - 2030

Public consultation on Main Modifications to the Isles of Scilly Local Plan (and associated Sustainability Appraisal of the Modifications) will run for 6 weeks commencing on:

Friday 25th September 2020 through to 5pm on Friday 6th November 2020 

Responses to the consultation will be considered by the Inspector before he prepares his final report on the Isles of Scilly Local Plan. 

This consultation is not an opportunity to re-state previous representations, as these have already been considered as part of the examination. This is also not an opportunity to raise new objections to the submitted Local Plan. This consultation is purely on the modifications and it is only these which are available for comment.

When emailing comments or submitting them by post, please make clear in your written submission which ‘Modification’ the comment relates to.  The consultation is only seeking views on the Modifications.

COVID-19

In response to the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), MHCLG has published an update on planning matters, including temporary measures to make it easier to operate the planning system. This includes that where any of the policies in the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) cannot be complied with due to the current guidance to help combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the local planning authority is encouraged to undertake an immediate review and update the policies where necessary so that plan-making can continue. The local planning authority has published an Interim Statement of Community Involvement to reflect the consultation arrangements that are currently possible during the pandemic.  Currently none of the off-island community halls are open and on this basis this consultation will be undertaken electronically only. 

Paper copies of the Schedule of Modifications and/or a Tracked Changes version of the Local Plan, including the Sustainability Appraisal Addendum and Response Form can be printed on request.
